More details about photo contest in Granite Falls
GRANITE FALLS, NC (July 23, 2018) — The Granite Falls History Committee is sponsoring a photo contest to promote the Granite Falls area (defined as the Granite Falls Middle School District) and to recognize the photographers who see and capture the images. Entries should be suitable for post cards, books, travel brochures, and/or t-shirts. The photos may feature landscapes, landmarks (natural or man-made), events, historical sites, and people. Photos must be recent [made within the past (5) years (2013 – 2018)]. Entries will be exhibited at the Granite Falls History and Transportation Museum (107 Falls Avenue) in September. Since they will be on display, the photos need to be 8″ X 10″ or 8 1/2″ X 11″ and submitted in simple frames that can be hung on a wall.
Judging will be by “people’s choice.” Visitors to the museum between 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 8th and 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 29th will vote on their favorite photos. Winners will receive ribbons and certificates. All photographers submitting entries will be recognized at a reception on Sunday, September 30, 2018 between 2 and 4 p.m. The winners will be announced during the reception.
The museum is open on Saturdays and Sundays (except holiday weekends) from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. The History Committee will also host group tours through the week. For more information, call the Town Office at 396-3131.
Persons entering the contest must hold legal rights to the photos they submit and be willing to allow the museum to use them to promote and preserve the history of Granite Falls. Each entry must be accompanied by a form, which is available on the museum website (www.granitefallshistorymuseum.org), on the Granite Falls History and Transportation Museum Facebook® page, and in the Welcome Center at the museum.
