HICKORY, NC (April 26, 2019) — Applications are currently being accepted for the 2019 Hickory Fire Department’s Citizens’ Fire Academy.
The Citizens’ Fire Academy is an 8-week course offered to adults who either live or work in the City of Hickory. The 2019 course will meet on Thursday nights from 6:30-8:30 p.m., beginning September 5, 2019, at Hickory Fire Station #7, located at 465 Catawba Valley Blvd SE. The course is free; however applications must be received by August 19.
Participants in the Citizens’ Fire Academy will learn about the equipment, services, and duties of the department and how it serves the residents of Hickory. Each class includes a different topic as well as hands-on activities or demonstrations. During the course, participants are also given the opportunity to participate in hands-on training experience with Hickory firefighters.
