Cold Mountain Fire Update 11/27/2019

PISGAH FOREST, NC (November 27, 2019) — The Cold Mountain Fire remains at approximately 220 acres with no growth expected. The fire has not increased in size since Sunday November 24. District staff will continue to monitor the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

At this time the area east of Deep Gap within the Shining Rock Wilderness will remain closed, this includes the Cold Mountain Summit Trail, TR #141. The rest of the wilderness is now open for use.
