Caldwell County Register of Deeds Now Accepts Passport Applications

LENOIR, NC (February 22, 2023) — The Caldwell County Register of Deeds now accepts passport applications on behalf of the U.S. Department of State. U.S. citizens planning international travel may apply for their passports Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the Register of Deeds office, 905 West Avenue in Lenoir.

While walk-ins may be accepted, appointments are highly recommended. To schedule an appointment, call 828-757-1310.

Caldwell County has been without a passport acceptance facility for more than seven years and the Register of Deeds felt it was a service their office could offer. With the support of the Board of Commissioners, the office began accepting applications in December.

“We are all about customer service and trying to find new ways we can help folks,” said Register of Deeds Wayne Rash. “When we saw the need, we felt it meshed well with what we do, and it’s a great service to our community.”

For application forms, information on documentation required, fees, and other passport and international travel information, visit the official passport website — travel.state.gov.
