You’re invited!

Please join the gardeners at Unity Park and Community Gardens for an “Open Garden” event to see and hear about this year’s use of and production from the garden. The “Open Garden” will be held at the garden, (College Ave SW, Lenoir), on Wednesday September 27, 4:30 and 6:00 pm. This event is free and open to the public. No formal program is scheduled; this is a drop-in style event. Light refreshment will be available.

Gardeners invite you to tour the garden and visit with gardeners who are present. Special projects in the garden this year featured ginger and turmeric production, a sweet potato variety trial, a community sweet corn plot, and many interesting varieties of peppers. Several gardeners are also planting fall greens and cover crops in their plots for fall and winter. Anyone with an interest in gardens or gardening should plan to attend.

Unity Park and Community Gardens is a City of Lenoir park and garden plots are rented and managed by private citizens. The NC Cooperative Extension- Caldwell County Center also manages demonstration plots at the garden.

Plan to join us in Wednesday, September 27!
