Women’s Resource Center Workshop Addresses ‘Legal Aspects of Separation & Divorce’

HICKORY, NC (August 9, 2019) — Women facing separation or divorce need to understand how the legal and financial decisions they make during this difficult transition will impact their lives and the lives of their families. To assist women in understanding these life-changing decisions, a local attorney from Hawkins and Mace, PLLC, will lead a workshop on the “Legal Aspects of Separation and Divorce” at the Women’s Resource Center in Hickory on Tuesday, August 13th, from 6 – 7:30 p.m.

The program is designed to educate women on how to evaluate their legal and financial settlement choices when a marriage ends. Topics covered include dividing assets, real estate, wills, power of attorney and other legal documents designed to protect the rights of women and children during a settlement.

“We are pleased to be able to offer divorce assistance for women through workshops like this one,” says Michelle Morgan, Interim Executive Director of WRC. “Divorce and separation are life-changing, and women need access to accurate legal and financial information to help them make the best possible decisions during a very emotional time in their lives.

Registration for the workshop costs $5 and seating is limited. Call WRC at (828) 322-6333 to register. More information is available at www.wrchickory.org or by calling WRC.

Women’s Resource Center (WRC) offers assistance to women in Alexander, Burke, Caldwell and Catawba counties through workforce development, advocacy, enrichment programs and community partnerships.
