Woman arrested and charged for Furnishing a Controlled Substance to an Inmate

LENOIR, NC (November 14, 2019) — On 11/09/2019, Caldwell County Detention Center received a pair of reading glasses from a subject to be given to an inmate.  Through proper procedure, the glasses were searched and a substance believed to be Suboxone was found hidden inside the reading glasses. 

After the substance was located within the reading glasses, an investigation was conducted by the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office.  Investigators identified the person that attempting to get the glasses into the Detention Center as Kristen Michelle Hardee, a thirty-three-year-old white female of 4207 Benfield Dr. Granite Falls, NC 28630. Hardee was arrested and charged on 11/13/2019 for Furnishing a Controlled Substance to an Inmate.  She was given a $19,000.00 secured bond and given a first appearance date of 11/14/2019 at 9 a.m. in Caldwell County District Court.

This is the second occurrence that Kristen Michelle Hardee has been charged with an attempt to provide inmates at the Caldwell County Detention Center with contraband.  She was also arrested on 10/30/2019 and charged with Providing a Mobile Device to an Inmate.
