Welcome to Caldwell County Sign spruced up
CALDWELL COUNTY, NC (November 8, 2016)…On Tuesday, November 8, 2016 Seth Nagy, Eli Snyder (from the Cooperative Extension Office), Chris Erickson (landscape designer) and master gardeners Shirley D’Armond and Corine Hardman-Szerdy planted 5 miscanthus morning light (ornamental grass) and 13 rudbeckia goldstrum plants around the Welcome to Caldwell County sign located on Route 321 north just past Grace Chapel Road. The project took an hour and a half to remove existing mulch and black fabric, loosen exiting dirt. Then the dirt was amended with fertilizer, cow manure and mulch. Next they planted all of the plants, covered with mulch and watered. Water was brought in, placed in buckets with a single hole in each bucket to irrigate along with using a hose. Plants should have sufficient water to last about two weeks before needing to be watered again. In the spring of 2017 we should see the results of the planting.
