HICKORY, NC (February 20, 2018)…Veterinary Referral Hospital of Hickory (VRHOH), a 24-hour emergency and specialty referral veterinary hospital in western North Carolina, today announced the talented veterinary surgeon Dr. Brett Wood has joined their practice. A board-certified surgeon since 2004, Dr. Wood has a special interest and proficiency in oncologic (cancer) surgery, minimally-invasive surgery (arthroscopy, laparoscopy, and thoracoscopy), and neurosurgery.

With the addition of Dr. Wood to the team, Veterinary Referral Hospital of Hickory now has three surgeons to meet the needs of the region’s pets for soft tissue, orthopedic, and neurologic surgery. Additionally, our surgeons consult with veterinarians on difficult or complex cases.

Dr. Wood says, “I am pleased to be part of this team to provide specialty care for companion animals in central and western North Carolina.”

The expansion of surgical services with the addition of Dr. Wood is a reflection of Veterinary Referral Hospital of Hickory’s commitment to the pets and veterinary community of Catawba and surrounding counties, to partner with general veterinary practices for outstanding specialized care. “We couldn’t be happier to have Dr. Wood at Veterinary Referral Hospital of Hickory. The skills and experience he brings to our region will tremendously benefit pet owners and veterinarians in our community.” says VRHOH’s hospital administrator Mike Bridges.

In addition to surgical services, Veterinary Referral Hospital of Hickory provides internal medicine services, dermatology services, and a 24-hour critical care and emergency service. Additionally, VRHOH is home to the Cures for Cats Thyroid Treatment Center dedicated to the cure of feline hyperthyroidism.
