Veterans Services helps replace stolen service medals

LENOIR, NC (August 20, 2021) — In July, Erica Laws discovered her father’s military medals had been stolen when her homeplace was ransacked. While one medal, the Purple Heart, was recovered, Laws hoped all of the medals could be found.

Caldwell County Veterans Services stepped in to assist Laws and ordered replacements of her father’s service medals.

This week, Veterans Services Director Regina Goforth presented Laws with the following medals, belonging to her father, Daniel Wayne Laws: Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Silver Star, National Defense Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge 1st Award, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon with Device (1960), Sharpshooter Badge and Rifle Bar.

Laws and Goforth stand with a display of Daniel Wayne Laws’ service medals.
