LENOIR, NC (May 3, 2019) — Here are some upcoming Caldwell Senior Center events…

Tuesday, May 7
Carolina West/Bark Mobile representatives will be at the Caldwell Senior Center on from 3:00-4:00pm to do a Smartphone Clinic and from 4:00-5:00pm to do an iPhone Clinic. Bring your phones and questions to receive help with any type of issue. Call (828) 758-2883 to attend the program. The Senior Center is a United Way participating agency.

Friday, May 10
A FREE Program on Native American culture will be presented at the Caldwell Senior Center by Paula Weeks from 11:00am-12:00pm. She will bring artifacts and share differences in tribal customs and beliefs. Please call 758-2883 to register. The Senior Center is a United Way participating agency.

Friday, May 10
Join Jim Coffey as he plays guitar music at the Caldwell Senior Center. Sit back and tap your toes to familiar tunes from 1:00-3:00pm. There is no cost. The Senior Center is a United Way of Caldwell County Agency.

If you enjoy making crafts, there is a FREE class offered by the Senior Crafters at the Caldwell Senior Center on May 10th at 2:00pm. They create different kinds of beautiful handmade items and would love to expand their group that meets every Tuesday morning at 10:00am. To register for the May 10th class or for more information, call 758-2883. The Caldwell Senior Center is a United Way participating agency.

Tuesday, May 14
The Alzheimer’s Association will present a FREE program called “Healthy Living for your Brain and Body” on May 14th at 3:00pm. These education programs teach participants about the disease and coping strategies for persons with dementia and their caregivers. This program will focus on how lifestyle choices affect your brain. Please call 758-2883 to register. Caldwell Senior Center is a United Way participating agency.

Friday, May 17
The Better Breather’s Club® will meet on May 17th at 11:00am at the Satie & J.E. Broyhill Caldwell Senior Center. This is a local support group that offers patient-centered, and community-based educational opportunities to persons with chronic lung diseases especially COPD, but also asthma, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis [IPF], lung cancer and other chronic lung diseases. Family, friends and support persons are welcome. Volunteers facilitate the groups and work with a Lung Association staff member to provide the service. Please register at (828) 758-2883. Friday, May 17
Do you know the impact Polio had on the people of Western NC? Dan Kirby will offer this FREE program on May 17th at 1:00pm at the Caldwell Senior Center. He will talk about his journey after contracting Polio in 1944 and share a video of how people came together to save their children from this devastating outbreak. Please register at (828) 758-2883. The Senior Center is a United Way of Caldwell County Agency.

Tuesday, May 21
Are you new to Medicare? The Caldwell Senior Center is offering a Medicare 101-The Basics class on May 21st at 3:00pm. Please register at 758-2883. The Caldwell Senior Center is a United Way participating agency.

Friday, May 24
Cynthia Harmon, Hard of Hearing Services Specialist for the NC Division of the Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, will be at the Senior Center on May 24th at 10:00am to present a FREE program called “What Caregivers Need to Know About Hearing Loss”. She will teach caregivers to recognize signs of hearing loss, head find services, overcome safety risks, support hearing aid users and improve communication. Assistive listening devices will be discussed and available to use. Please call (828) 758-2883 to register. The Caldwell Senior Center is a United Way participating agency.

Friday, May 31
The Caldwell Senior Center is having a yard sale to raise money for the operating costs of the center on May 31st (7:00am-4:00pm) – June 1st (7:00am-1:00pm). Donations of sale items will be accepted from May 20th-30th (Mon.-Fri. 9am-5pm). No clothing will be accepted. Call 758-2883 with questions. The Caldwell Senior Center is a United Way participating agency.
