Two individuals arrested for breaking into the Granite Falls State Employees Credit Union

GRANITE FALLS, NC (March 21, 2019) — The Granite Falls Police Department arrested two individuals for breaking in the State Employees Credit Union overnight on the morning of Thursday, March 21, 2019.

On Thursday, March 21, 2019 at approximately 4:30pm, Andrew Claude Stahl, 35, of Lovelady Lane Granite Falls and Mathew Nathaniel Glenn, 20, of Faith Lane, Hudson were arrested for felony breaking and entering after Granite Falls Police found a broken window at the State Employees Credit Union located at 145 North Highland Avenue at 4:47am this morning. An officer, along with a Hudson Police officer, responded to the bank after an alarm was called in to the Police Department. While at the bank, the officers located the broken window. No one was located at the scene at the time of the alarm.

Investigators from the Police Department obtained video footage from the bank. A description of a vehicle and person were obtained from the video.

While on patrol, Lt. Ricky Gilliland observed a vehicle matching the one in the video traveling on Falls Avenue. Lt. Gilliland stopped the vehicle and identified Andrew and Mathew in the vehicle. Officers discovered there were warrants on Andrew out of Catawba County. During a search of the vehicle there were several items found that were used in the breaking and entering.

In addition to the felony breaking and entering charges, Andrew and Mathew were charged with possession of burglary tools. Andrews bond is a combined $30,000 secured, adding in the true bill of indictment for breaking, entering and larceny from Catawba County. Mathew’s bond is $20,000 secured. Both were incarcerated in the Caldwell County Detention Center and have a first appearance in District Court in Lenoir on March 25, 2019. Additional charges are anticipated. Nothing was taken from the bank.
