LENOIR, NC (February 20, 2019) — Packets of information were sent home with students a few weeks ago and any student currently on an approved transfer or anyone interested in transferring should complete the simple, one-page application form by Feb. 28.
To be considered for a transfer, student applications must be received by Feb. 28. Applications received after the deadline will only be approved in cases involving extreme circumstances.
Recent changes to the student transfer procedure will provide the district with accurate data on the number of students currently enrolled out of their home school district and will allow the school district to make well-informed decisions about staffing.
During this Open Enrollment period, four schools are closed to student transfers due to enrollment numbers:
Davenport A+ School
Lower Creek Elementary
William Lenoir Middle
Granite Falls Middle School
Students currently attending these schools on transfer, who are in good standing, will be allowed to continue at these schools. In addition, siblings of students currently attending schools on transfer will be allowed to attend these schools as well.
All other schools are open to accepting approved student transfers. We encourage families to discuss these options and to think about choosing the best fit for their students next fall.
