The Fry Street Quartet returns to Hickory with fresh, new program

HICKORY, NC (September 12, 2019) — The Western Piedmont Symphony’s 55th season begins with the Fry Street Quartet, as part of this year’s Chamber Classics: Homecoming series.

Chamber Classics 1 with Fry Street Quartet, will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on Saturday, September 28th at 7:30 p.m. This program includes string quartets by Mozart, Ligeti and Brahms. Attendees will be sure to enjoy an evening of beautiful music performed by these exceptionally talented musicians.

If you can’t make the evening performance — join the Fry Street Quartet for lunch at our very popular Soup, Salad & Strings luncheon series at 11:45 am in the Keiser Community Room on Friday, September 27th at the SALT Block. Soup, Salad & Strings is an informal luncheon/concert that is perfect for concert goers who prefer daytime entertainment.

Fry Street was the first string quartet to ever hold a residency with the Hickory Metro String Quartet Residency program. This residency allowed the quartet to establish both themselves as a quartet and solidify the residency program for the Hickory community. Fry Street’s significant touring history includes performances at major venues, festivals, and for distinguished series such as Carnegie Hall and the Schneider Series at the New School in New York, the Jewel Box series in Chicago, Chamber Music Columbus, the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach, the DiBartolo Performing Arts Center at Notre Dame, the Theosophical Society in London, and the Mozart Gemeinde in Klagenfurt, Austria. The group currently holds a residency with Utah State University.

All tickets are available in advance online at WPSymphony.org/tickets, by calling the office at (828) 324.8603, or by emailing tickets@wpsymphony.org.
