Thank you to our Community!

LENOIR, NC (May 13, 2024) ⇒ This is an open letter of gratitude to our community!

We congratulate you for your food drive efforts to benefit Yokefellow and the Lenoir Soup Kitchen as part of the national Mail Carriers food drive on May 11th. The poundage of the food designated to Yokefellow is 1,959 pounds! This is an impressive amount food collected through this effort, and it couldn’t be collected at a better time!

I stand amazed at the many hands, in love, handling the many bags of food donated. The hands in the home donating, the carrier who picks up and brings to the post office, the volunteers who unload the postal trucks, the volunteers who re-pack and weigh the food, the trucks loaders and drivers, the volunteers who unload the food at the agencies served, and the army of volunteers who are still sorting and stacking food even this week at these agencies. What an effort of love for the hungry!

Every second Saturday in May, letter carriers in more than 10,000 cities and towns across America collect the goodness and compassion of their postal customers, who participate in the NALC Stamp Out Hunger National Food Drive — the largest one-day food drive in the nation.

Your generous food gifts add back to the Yokefellow program as our numbers continue to stay consistently high. Childhood and senior food insecurity continue to be a concern AND priority for Caldwell County. The efforts of the Lenoir Post Office has made a significant, direct impact on the cupboards of many families in our community!

To our neighborhood partners who placed generous bags that weekend we send a sincere thank you! Thank you for thinking of your neighbors in need.

Again, many thanks and I pray for God’s blessings for you.

Kindest regards,

Sharon V. Harmon
