Susan G. Komen® Northwest NC Community Grant Request for Application (RFA) Now Released

WINSTON-SALEM, NC (October 16, 2017)…The promise of Susan G. Komen® is to save lives by meeting the most critical needs in our communities and investing in breakthrough research to prevent and cure breast cancer.  For the 2017-2018 Community Grants cycle, Susan G. Komen Northwest NC is investing more than $107,000 in four local community programs.  Komen Northwest NC funds non-duplicative, community-based breast health education and breast cancer screening, diagnostic, and treatment projects for the medically underserved in our 22-county service area (Alamance, Alexander, Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, Davie, Davidson, Forsyth, Guilford, Madison, Mitchell, Randolph, Rockingham, Stokes, Surry, Watauga, Wilkes, Yancey, and Yadkin counties).  Our Affiliate is proud to have surpassed more than $6.4 million in community grants since its inception in 2001.

The RFA for the 2018-2019 grants cycle has been released as of October 2, 2017, along with a revised community profile and mission action plan.  To be eligible to apply for a Komen Community Grant, your organization must:

Be a federally tax-exempt – nonprofit organization, government agency, educational institution or Indian tribe.
Be located within Komen Northwest NC’s 22-county service area.
Address one of our funding priorities as listed in the Request for Application.
Attendance at a grant writing workshop and GeMS training is also required for all applicants.  The following workshops are still available to attend with a required RSVP:

October 19, 2017, 9am – 11am: Cone Health Cancer Center, Conference Room 24, 501 N Elam Ave., Greensboro, NC 27403
October 20, 2017, 9am – 11am: Derrick L. Davis Cancer Center, Conference Room, 3333 Silas Creek Pkwy., Winston-Salem, NC 27103
October 23, 2017, 1pm – 3pm: Watauga County Public Library, 140 Queen St., Boone, NC 28607
Applications for the 2018-2019 grant cycle are due December 8, 2017 at 5:00PM EST.
