Sugar Mountain fires up snow guns
SUGAR MOUNTAIN SKI RESORT, NC (November 1, 2019) — Sugar Mountain began making snow at midnight on Northridge, Switchback, Upper and Lower Flying Mile, Easy Street and the Magic Carpet area.
Kimberley Jochl, Sugar Mountain Vice President, informed us that if weather and conditions allow, they plan to open this coming Sunday.

Last season Sugar Mountain opened on November 11, 2018 and closed on March 31, 2019 with 141 skier days and a total snowfall of 66.8 inches. 2018-2019 was the longest consecutive season ever. The 2014-2015 season was the longest season ever with 146 days.
Sugar Mountain Resort first opened in 1969 is celebrating its 50th anniversary this season.
In 2019: A four-seater, detachable, high-speed chairlift manufactured by the Austrian based company, Doppelmayr, replaces the fifty-year-old, two-passenger, fixed grip Easy Street chairlift, increasing the Resort’s overall uphill capacity from 10,518 passengers per hour to 11,270 passengers per hour.
