LENOIR, NC (May 1, 2019) — Rylee Carter, an eighth-grade student at Collettsville School, won 1st place in the Original Art Category 1 (Middle Division 6-8) in North Carolina’s Career Development Month Poetry & Art Contest sponsored by the North Carolina Career Development Association (NCCDA).
The congratulatory letter to Carter said that “You are among a select few of North Carolina citizens who have demonstrated superior abilities in poetry writing and visual arts in this year’s contest.”
Carter’s state-winning entry has been submitted to the National Career Development Association’s Career Development Month Poster & Art contest and will be judged in the national competition. National winners will be announced late spring 2019.
Carter received a certificate of recognition and will be recognized by the Board of Education at the School Board meeting in May.
