State Highway Patrol and the Wildlife Resources Commission Release Campaign Efforts

RALEIGH, NC (June 1, 2017)…The State Highway Patrol along with the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission Law Enforcement Division released the totals for “On the Road On the Water, Don’t Drink and Drive” campaign for the period of Saturday, May 27 through Monday, May 29.

The campaign is a collaborative effort between the State Highway Patrol and N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission which concentrates on the removal of impaired drivers from roadways and waterways.

Highlighting the combined efforts of both agencies, SHP removed 222 impaired drivers from the roadways and WRC removed 8 impaired boaters from the waterways. The success of the campaign saved countless numbers of lives, allowing N.C. motorists to travel safely to their intended destinations.

• Other Implied Consent Violations: 85
• Drug Violations: 28
• Drug Paraphernalia: 22
• Seatbelt Violations: 1174
• Child Restraint Violations: 138
• Equipment Violation: 479
• Driver License Violation: 929
• Registration Violation: 752
• Other Violations: 2980
Total: 6830

Wildlife Resources Commission:
• Boating Under the Influence: 8
• Number of Vessels Contacted: 638
• Number of Boaters Contacted: 1599
• Number of Boating Citations: 136
• Non-Boating Violations: 148
• Boating Warnings Given: 249

Total: 2778
