State Highway Patrol and Department of Public Instruction Combine Efforts In Conducting “Operation Stop Arm”

RALEIGH, NC (October 10, 2017)…In support of Operation Stop Arm week the State Highway Patrol will be aggressively enforcing stop arm violations and other traffic violations in and around school zones. The operation will be conducted from 6:00 a.m. on Monday, October 16th through Friday, October 20th. The Patrol expects Operation Stop Arm will decrease violations and reduce school bus incidents involving children.

Caldwell County is not immune from school bus stop arm violations, just ask a school bus driver.  Passing a stopped school bus is an extremely serious offense.  According to the NC Department of Insurance a conviction of passing a stopped school bus will increase your insurance rates by approximately 80%.  Some Caldwell County school buses have camera systems installed to capture images of motorists that pass their stop arm signs.  Just in the past few weeks a motorist was stopped by the NC Highway Patrol on Grace Chapel Road for passing a stopped school bus in front of Northlakes Academy Child Development Center.  Troopers take these violations very seriously…and, so should you!!!
