Sheriff’s Office nabs methamphetamine dealer

GRANITE FALLS, NC (March 1, 2018)…Sheriff Alan C. Jones has announced on February 28, 2018, Narcotic Agents with the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office Ice Unit along with uniformed Deputies conducted an operation which resulted in the arrest of Michael Vincent Osborne, age 36, of 4446 Rual Drive in Granite Falls for Trafficking in Methamphetamine.  Osborne was stopped on Baton School Road while driving a 1999 Lexus and was found to be in possession of approximately 30 grams of crystal methamphetamine, a .380 semi-auto firearm, and $1,559 in cash.

Osborne was charged with Felonious Trafficking in Methamphetamine by Possession and Felonious Trafficking in Methamphetamine by Transportation.  If convicted, he faces a mandatory prison term.  Agents are anticipating additional charges for possessing the firearm, since he is a convicted felon.  The drugs have a street value of $4,500 according to North Carolina State Drug Guidelines.

Osborne was incarcerated in the Caldwell County Detention Center under a $75,000 secured bond on the drug charges and a $750.00 secured bond on a Catawba County Failure to Appear in Court for Driving Offenses.  He has a first appearance in District Court in Lenoir on March 1, 2018 for the drug charges, and in Newton on March 22, 2018 for the Failure to Appear.
