Sheriff’s Office jails three for drug/firearms crimes
LENOIR, NC (April 12, 2018)…Sheriff Alan C. Jones has announced on April 11, 2018, at approximately 4:47 am, Deputies with the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office arrested and charged Carol Jean Dunn, age 56, on felonious firearm and drug trafficking charges. Additionally charged were Jama Mikhail Puma, age 36, with felonious possession with intent to sell/deliver methamphetamine and Danny Carl Lackey, age 38, with felonious possession of a firearm by convicted felon. The arrests resulted from a search of the premise with the North Carolina Probation/Parole Office. The incident occurred at 2461 Collettsville Road in Lenoir.
After making contact with the home owner, Officers began their search and located Carol Dunn in one of the bedrooms. After a search of her room she was found to be in possession of over 11 ounces of methamphetamine, $11,316 in cash, digital weighing scales and other drug paraphernalia items. Puma, who was in a separate room, was also found to be in possession of individually packaged baggies of methamphetamine hidden underneath the bed mattress. Lackey, who is a convicted felon, was found to be in possession of a shotgun that he had attempted to hide while Officers were initially at the door. A small amount of marijuana was also seized from the premise. The drugs have a street value of $49,380 according to North Carolina State Drug Guidelines.
Dunn was given a $100,000 secured bond and had a court date of April 12, 2018 in District Court in Lenoir. Puma was given a $25,000 secured bond and Lackey received a $25,000 secured bond. Both Puma and Lackey also had a court appearance in Lenoir on April 12, 2018.
