Senior Adults Welcomed to Bible Study

BETHLEHEM, NC (July 16, 2017)…SALT (Senior Adults Living Truth) is a great group of fun, Jesus-loving senior adults who love God and His people. SALT meets each Wednesday morning at 10am at Bethlehem Baptist Church to study God’s word, offer encouragement and prayer, and fellowship with each other. Any senior adult is welcome to the group. Following a break during the month of July, SALT will resume weekly meetings on August 2, 2017. The new session will begin with several weeks in Psalms, before beginning a study of the Book of Job.

Bible study leader David Lyda has a love for teaching God’s word…and a heart for senior adults. Lyda, who worked as a building inspector for Catawba County prior to retirement, has taught Sunday School for many years, as well as other Bible studies. “I love teaching,” says Lyda. “This Bible Study is geared to senior adults. We dig into God’s word together, enjoy time together, and meet in the mornings to accommodate those of us who may not be as comfortable driving at night.” The group also plans several day trips or outings throughout the year.

“I enjoy the SALT Bible Study each week,” says member Sheila Zink. “David is an excellent teacher, and brings out practical applications of what we study. It’s more than just a weekly ‘lesson’. It really promotes and encourages personal study and discipline.”

Member Bob Wikander enjoys the opportunity to discuss God’s word with other believers. “I also enjoy the fellowship,” adds Wikander.

In addition to the SALT Bible Study, there is an extra opportunity for those interested in music. The SALT-SHAKERS praise and worship God through beautiful music with color-coded handbells. It is not necessary to read music to participate. In addition to just enjoying playing handbells together, the SALT-SHAKERS perform throughout the community as opportunities arise, including area long-term-care facilities.

Bethlehem Baptist Church is located at 7500 NC Hwy 127N, Taylorsville, NC. For more information about SALT, call 828.495.7250 or visit www.bethlehembc.org.
