North Carolina Palatines to America Conference set for September 30th

NEWTON, NC (August 26, 2017)…The North Carolina Chapter of Palatines to America is holding its Fall Conference and Chapter meeting in Newton, North Carolina, September 30, 2017.  Those interested in genealogy concerning Germanic-Speaking Ancestors are especially encouraged to attend.

Reservations may be made with Roger Eury, 1121 Old Salisbury-Concord Road, Concord NC 28025, or rogereury@gmail.com no later than September 15, 2017.  Registration is free, but the organization needs to know in advance the number planning to attend each event.

Registration will begin at 10:05 a.m. on Saturday,  September 30th at the Catawba County Library Auditorium, 115 West C Street, Newton.  Please use the Parking lot and entrance at the back of the Library.

A few brief remarks and introductions will precede the featured speaker, Mr. Robert C. Carpenter of Bessemer City.  Mr. Carpenter will talk about “German Settlers West of the Catawba,” beginning at 10:30 a.m.  Mr. Carpenter is a popular presenter with extensive experience as an educator, researcher, historian, author, and publisher.

Lunch will be dutch-treat at Box Car Grille, Claremont NC. Following lunch, interested persons are invited to attend the annual Murray’s Mill Harvest Folk Festival at one of Catawba County’s popular historic sites.  The cost is only $5 per person at the Festival entrance.  The Festival is hosted by the Historical Association of Catawba County.  For those who may not be interested in the Festival, there are numerous historic properties and other venues around Catawba county that can be enjoyed.
