LENOIR, NC (March 15, 2024) ⇒ Caldwell County recently welcomed new Veterans Services Director Joseph Calloway at a swearing-in ceremony.
“We are excited to welcome Joseph to our team and look forward to working with him as he serves our veterans,” said Caldwell County Manager Donald Duncan.
A First Sergeant in the Army Reserve Unit in Hickory NC, Calloway began his military career with the Marine Corps.
He joined the Marine Corps in 1992 after graduating from South Caldwell High School. During his time with the Corps, he served in five operations, including Operations Restore and Continue Hope in Mogadishu, Somalia and Operation Deny Flight in Bosnia.
Now Calloway is nearing the end of his military career but is excited about his new role where he can continue serving his brother and sisters.
“My time in service allows me to connect with our veterans on a deeper level, and it drives me to help my fellow veterans access the services they need,” said Calloway.
Calloway is a lifelong resident of Hudson. He and his wife have six children and four grandchildren.
