All Lanes of U.S. 321 in Blowing Rock Open in Anticipation of Miami at Appalachian State…
More than 35,000 people are expected to attend the football game on Saturday between No. 25 University of Miami and Appalachian State with thousands more outside the stadium and a national audience watching on television.
In anticipation of the heavy traffic, the Department of Transportation will open all lanes of U.S. 321 through Blowing Rock by noon today.
A limited crew may continue working through the weekend in various areas that will not impede traffic and help the project stay on schedule. The normal operational schedule will resume Monday morning.
The transportation department develops part of its construction schedule in Blowing Rock around ASU home games as well as home football games in the High Country.
An alternate route to Boone from locations south or east involves taking U.S. 421 West from the Wilkesboro area.
Appalachian State athletic department officials advise all who plan on attending to assume there will be delays, and suggest they park at a distance, plan on walking to the stadium or using AppalCART shuttle system.
