Narcotic investigators arrest two and charge with sell and deliver crystal meth

LENOIR, NC (March 17, 2017)…Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Investigators charged a Burke County man and woman with selling and delivering methamphetamine in an operation that involved a short chase on Highway 321 in Granite Falls around 4 p.m. Wednesday.

According to investigators, an undercover operation between the Sheriff’s Office Ice Unit and Investigators with Granite Falls Police Department began in the parking lot of Walmart in Granite Falls, when a sale of 7.2 grams of methamphetamine was done from 29-year-old Destiny Nicole Miller of 4343 Johns River Road in Morganton and 27-year-old Nou Long Yang of George Hildebran Road in Connelly Springs. The sale was allegedly made in the car of the two suspects which was a Honda Accord.

According to reports, as the officers moved in after the sale, Yang, who was driving, attempted to speed away from the scene and slammed into an unoccupied parked car in the lot, stopped and then sped away again.

Officers chased the suspect car up 321 North to the Granite Falls McDonalds and then again on Duke Street toward Rhodhiss where officers lost sight of the suspect’s car. Burke County authorities were notified to be on the look-out for the suspects.

Later that evening, around 8:30 p.m., the North Carolina Highway Patrol made a traffic stop on another Honda on Rhodhiss Road in Burke County and determined that the two suspects were passengers in that car and they were taken into custody by Burke County Officers.

The suspects were each charged with the following and incarcerated under a $250,000 secured bond:

• One (1) Count Felonious Possession with Intent to Sell/Deliver Methamphetamine.

• One (1) Count Felonious Sell Methamphetamine.

• One (1) Count Felonious Deliver Methamphetamine.

Yang was also charged with following under an additional $100,000 secured bond:

• One (1) Count Felony Fleeing to Elude Arrest.

• One (1) Count Felony Hit and Run with Injury.
