N.C. Cooperative Extension to host Landscapers’ Workshop on January 25 for landscapers and certified landscape contractors

LENOIR, NC (January 2, 2018)…Join us for an all-day Landscapers’ Workshop on January 25, 2018 in Lenoir, NC hosted by N.C. Cooperative Extension in Caldwell County. This workshop is designed for commercial landscapers and will offer continuing education credits towards a North Carolina Landscape Contractors’ and pesticide applicators licenses. The event will take place 8 am – 4 pm at the Caldwell County Library Meeting Rooms (120 Hospital Ave NE, Lenoir, NC 28645). Class topics will include fire ant management, landscaping with natives and edible plants, recognizing western NC forest pests, disease management in turfgrass, and web-based marketing. The workshop will feature speakers from NC State University, N.C. Cooperative Extension and the N.C. Forest Service, and the Small Business and Center and Technology Education Program at Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute. Participants will have time at lunch and during breaks to visit with vendors. The first session will offer 5 technical credits towards a NC landscape contractors’ license, and 5 pesticide applicators license credits for categories N,D, and X, and 4 credits for category L. The afternoon class (2 pm -4 pm) will offer 2 business credits towards a NC landscape contractors license. Participants can choose to attend the technical section, business section, or both. In order to receive credits for either section, participants must attend the entire session.

The fee to attend the entire program is $25, including lunch. The fee is $15 for the technical session and lunch (8 am – 2pm), and $10 for the business session (2-4 pm).
