Multi-Agency Operation Nets Meth Trafficker

LENOIR, NC (March 27, 2019) — Sheriff Alan C. Jones announced a meth trafficker was taken into custody yesterday in Lenoir during a multi-agency operation between the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office, Lenoir Police Department, and Catawba County Sheriff’s Office. Kimberly Deann Bumgarner, age 54 of 4162 Mark Trail Court in Claremont was arrested and charged with two counts of Trafficking in Methamphetamine by the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office Ice Unit. Bumgarner was apprehended without incident by Agents in Lenoir while driving her 2001 Dodge truck. A search of her vehicle netted over 11 ounces of crystal methamphetamine hidden in a container beneath the hood of the truck. The vehicle was subsequently confiscated.

Agents from the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office, conducting a separate but related investigation, also seized approximately 30 ounces of crystal methamphetamine tied to Bumgarner and $8,300 cash. The total amount of methamphetamine seized has a street value of $256,800 according to North Carolina State Drug Guidelines. Bumgarner was incarcerated in the Caldwell Detention Center under a $150,000 secured bond and has an initial appearance in District Court in Lenoir on March 27, 2019.
