Mount Hermon Offers “Blue Christmas” Service December 21st at 7PM

LENOIR, NC (December 15, 2017)…Mount Hermon United Methodist Church invites you to a special holiday service designed for those for whom the holidays might be difficult. If you have undergone a difficult loss, transition, or life change, the church cares about you and invites you to a special time of music and worship, prayer and healing.

Greetings of ‘Merry Christmas!’ contrast with the feelings of those struggling with how unhappy life is at this moment. We recognize that many Christmas celebrations do not meet everyone’s needs. To fill this gap, we are offering a “Blue Christmas” Service.

This service, sometimes called “The Longest Night” is held on December 21st because it is the night when darkness lasts the longest. Darkness is also a feeling many have inside of themselves. While all the world holds a festival of light, many feel only the darkness of loss and grief. The God who loves us all is with us in the darkest of times, too. This service is a chance to call out to God in our distress, hear God’s word, and light a candle of remembrance for all we have lost.

Mount Hermon United Methodist Church is located at 2695 Alfred Hartley Road. For more information, call 828-728-4690.
