MLK Breakfast a success
LENOIR, NC (January 13, 2018)…More than 160 people attended the Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast at the City’s MLK Jr. Center Saturday morning, Jan. 13, 2018. The breakfast is part of a weekend celebration honoring Dr. King that culminates Monday with in a Memory March and program.
During the breakfast, Councilman Ike Perkins gave a scripture reading and Mayor Joe Gibbons gave a brief state of the city update highlighting the new businesses that opened in the City this past year, and the various improvements around town including new sidewalks and renovations at the J.E. Broyhill Park.
Breakfast was provided by Ben Sally and included rice, cube steak and gravy, grits, bacon, sausage, eggs, biscuits, cinnamon cake, juice, and coffee.
An Interdenominational Worship Service will be held at the MLK Jr. Center tomorrow, Sunday, Jan. 14, at 4:00 pm. The MLK Day Memory March and Celebration will start at 1:00 pm Monday, Jan. 15, at JE Broyhill Park followed by the MLK Day Program at 2:00 pm at MLK Jr. Center. The City’s MLK Jr. Center is located at 313 Greenhaven Dr. in Lenoir.
