Mighty Oak Award Received

LENOIR, NC (Jun 14, 2018)…Caldwell County Health Department’s Communicable Disease (CD) staff has received the “Mighty Oak” Award.  This award is an honor first given in 2015 to highlight a county CD program that has exemplified the strength and flexibility we hope to achieve for all of our health department programs.

The Communicable Disease Branch collaborated with Caldwell County’s Communicable Disease Nurse, Jackie Bunch and Clinic Nursing Director, Lisa Lowe on detailing information on an increase in Hepatitis B cases in 2016.  Despite the clinic having a heavy case load at this time, both nurses welcomed Disease Intervention Specialists (DIS) by providing invaluable guidance on the causes of the increases of Hepatitis B cases within this time-frame.  The nomination highlighted the dedication of Caldwell County Health Department to serving its residents.  Without the support of nurses like Jackie Bunch and Lisa Lowe, and their detailed knowledge and outstanding guidance, the investigation would not have been as successful.

Congratulations to Jackie Bunch, RN and Lisa Lowe, RN for a job well done.  For more information regarding the award, please contact (828)426-8506.
