In order to earn the credential, electric cooperative directors must complete a variety of courses on topics ranging from finance to technology and then commit to a continuing education requirement throughout their service on the co-op board.

Today’s electric utility environment imposes new demands on electric cooperative directors, particularly for increased knowledge of ongoing changes in the electric utility business, new governance skills and a working knowledge of the cooperative business principles. Blue Ridge Energy has a commitment to work through NRECA to sharpen this body of knowledge for the benefit of their electric cooperative consumer-owners.

NRECA represents more than 900 private, consumer-owned electric cooperatives, which provide electric service to nearly 40 million people in 47 states.  Blue Ridge Energy serves some 76,000 member-owners in Ashe, Alleghany, Watauga, Caldwell and parts of Alexander, Avery and Wilkes counties.  Learn more at www.BlueRidgeEnergy.com.
