Little River Fire Department Firefighter injured while removing tree from roadway

LENOIR, NC (September 16, 2018) — Around the time of 09:13AM this morning, Little River Fire Department was called out for a service call in reference to a tree in the roadway on Draco Road near the intersection of Fox Road.  Three Firefighters responded to remove the tree from the roadway. While removing the tree, one Firefighter was struck in the head by the tree rendering the Firefighter unconscious for several minutes. Other Firefighters on the scene immediately rushed to his aide, dispatching an ambulance and first responders to the scene. The Firefighter was transported to Caldwell UNC Healthcare in Lenoir with non-life-threatening injuries. The firefighter is expected to be released from the ER later today.
