Lenoir Police Department makes major drug arrest
LENOIR, NC (October 3, 2016)…On September 28th, 2016 at 11:58 am officers from the Lenoir Police Department with members of the US Marshal Service Violent Offender Task Force located Bryan Keith Simmons. Simmons was wanted on a Felony Fugitive Extradition warrant from Spartanburg, South Carolina for the charge of Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Methamphetamine or Cocaine. Simmons was found in a room at the Red Carpet Inn, which is located at 142 Wilkesboro Blvd. Lenoir, NC. When Simmons was arrested the officers noticed a large number of hypodermic needles, scales, and a firearm lying inside his room. A search warrant was applied for and obtained to search the room. When the room was searched officers found 884.2 grams of Methamphetamine which had a street value of $132,630.00. They found 5 firearms, one of which had been reported stolen from Union County, South Carolina. They also found $3,957.00 in US currency, and several items of drug paraphernalia. Simmons was arrested and served the Felony Fugitive Extradition warrant. He received a $500,000.00 secured bond and his initial court date was scheduled for 09-29-2016.
Then, on 09-30-2016 Officers with the Lenoir Police Department’s Narcotics Unit obtained warrants for Simmons arrest. These warrants stemmed from the search of his motel room on 09-28-2016. Simmons was charged with 1 count of Trafficking in Methamphetamine, 1 count of Possession with Intent to Manufacture Sell or Deliver Methamphetamine, 1 count of Maintaining a Vehicle/Dwelling for the Purpose of Controlled Substances, 5 counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, and 1 count of Possession of a Stolen Firearm. He received a $2,000,000.00 secured bond and an initial court date of 10-03-2016 for these charges.
