Chief Phelps said that he was honored to be the new Chief of Police and looked forward to working with his fellow officers and the community.

“I care about the men and women of this department, I care about the men and women of this community, and I’m honored to step into this role and to continue to work beside the folks that are in this room that wear this patch and do this job that we do daily,” Phelps said.

Mayor Gibbons said that Council and the City were honored to have Phelps serving as the new Chief and that Council would support him in every way they could.

“We are proud to have you and proud to work with you,” Gibbons said. “Thank you for your leadership, and we wish you nothing but the best. You know the Council will be behind you in every way we can.”
