Lenoir man given prison term of four to six years

MORGANTON, NC (November 3, 2017)…Jason Miller, 21, of Lenoir, was given an active prison term of four to six years following his plea to robbery with a dangerous weapon and second-degree kidnapping on Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017,  during Burke County Superior Court.

The Honorable Robert C. Ervin, Superior Court Judge from Burke County, imposed the prison term for Miller, who will serve it in custody of the North Carolina Division of Adult Corrections.

A convenience store in Burke County was robbed by an individual with a rifle on March 3, 2017. The victim told investigators from Burke County Sheriff’s Office that the defendant pointed the rifle at him and told him to give him all the money in the cash register.

Miller fled from the scene but later was located and apprehended after numerous interviews with witnesses. He later confessed to the robbery when questioned by investigators.

Daniel Strauss investigated the case for Burke County Sheriff’s Office. Lance Sigmon handled prosecution for the District Attorney’s Office.
