Lenoir man given given prison term of two to four years

LENOIR, NC (November 3, 2017)…Shawn Henry McLean, 39, of Lenoir, was given an active prison sentence of two to four years after pleading guilty to possession of methamphetamine and admission of habitual felon status.

The defendant entered the plea in Caldwell County Superior Court on Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017, and was given his prison term by the Honorable Daniel A. Kuehnert. McLean will serve his sentence in custody of the North Carolina Division of Adult Corrections.

His sentence was enhanced by prior felony convictions for felony larceny (February 2002), possession of stolen goods (February 2004) and accessory after the fact to armed robbery (January 2011). All those convictions were in Caldwell County.

The defendant was arrested on three separate occasions for being in possession of a small quantity of methamphetamine. Two arrests were related to vehicle stops, and a third came after law enforcement officers received a tip regarding McLean.

Deputies with the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office handled each offense committed by McLean, and Assistant District Attorney Andrew Jennings prosecuted the cases for the State.
