Lenoir man arrested on drug charges
LENOIR, NC (April 2, 2019) — The Lenoir Police Department’s Narcotics Unit along with deputies from the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office had been investigating drug sales centered around Justin Ryan Day. During surveillance of Day’s activities, investigators learned that Day was indeed selling and transporting illegal narcotics. On April 1st, 2019 officers located Day in the parking lot of 847 Blowing Rock Blvd. Lenoir, NC in a Dodge Dart passenger car. Justin was arrested and the vehicle was searched. During the search methamphetamine was located both within his short’s pockets and in the floorboard of the vehicle. The total weight of the meth was 19.4 grams. Officers also found 0.7 grams of crack cocaine in Day’s shorts pockets and a Smith and Wesson M&P 45 caliber pistol belonging to Day in the car.
Day was arrested and charged with 1 count of felony Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell, or Deliver Methamphetamine, 1 count of felony Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, 1 count of felony Possession of Cocaine, and 1 count of felony Maintaining a Dwelling or Vehicle for the Purpose of Controlled Substance. Day received an initial court date of 04-02-2019 and a secured bond of $310,000.00. According to North Carolina State guidelines, the seized drugs were valued at $3,050.00. This arrest was the product of a two-week long investigation.
