Lenoir man arrested for drive by shooting

LENOIR, NC (October 24, 2017)…On October 23, 2017 at approximately 5:37 pm the Lenoir Police Department received a 911 call from 705 Stage Street of a “drive by shooting.”  When initial officers arrived on scene the victim was located outside the residence with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the chest.  Medical responders with Caldwell County EMS arrived and transported the victim to Caldwell UNC Health Care.

Christopher Alan Smoot was taken into custody without incident at 211 NW Sunset St. Lot 1 Lenoir, NC 28645 on October 23, 2017 at 11:33 pm. He was arrested on the charges of 1 count of Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon with the Intent to Kill Serious Injury and 1 count of Felony Discharging a Weapon into Occupied Property Causing Serious Bodily Injury.  Smoot received a $500,000.00 secured bond and has an initial court date of 10-24-2017.  More charges may be forth coming in this incident.
