GRANITE FALLS, NC (January 27, 2017)…Denise Glander always wanted to be a veterinarian. She stated, “I love animals.”
On Friday, January 27, 2017 the Caldwell County Chamber of Commerce helped Dr. Glander celebrate her 20 years of service in the community by hosting a ribbon cutting. Many representatives from the Town of Granite Falls attended.
Dr. Glander established her own veterinary hospital in 1997 after working with Dr. John Thuss at Lenoir Veterinary Hospital for almost ten (10) years. She received her training from the University of Georgia (BS in Biology), Washington Hospital Center (Medical Technology Certification), and Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine (DVM). She is a member of the Piedmont Veterinary Medical Association, which she served as president from 1999 to 2001, and of the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association, which she has served as District Representative.
She has also served on the Board of Directors of the Caldwell County Chamber of Commerce and on the Caldwell County Board of Health. The award winner has also been a mentor with Community in Schools and participated in career talks. Dr. Glander is an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Lenoir, where she has served as the Music Committee Chair, an adult education leader, and member of the Liturgy Committee. She has also been a member of Catholic Daughters of America.
Dr. Glander was chosen as the 2016 Granite Falls Woman of the Year. Here is a link to an article about this great honor:
