Lady Cobras lose in overtime

HUDSON, NC (November 6, 2018) — The Lady Cobras basketball team lost in overtime at home on Monday night to Guilford Tech 78-73. The Cobras started the game hot and went into halftime with a 43-32 advantage. After a slow start to the second half, the Cobras went into the 4th quarter down 52-47. In the final quarter the Lady Cobras were able to fight back to end regulation tied at 69 apiece to force overtime. In the extra period Guilford Tech was able to jump out to an early lead and outlast the Cobras to hold onto a 78-73 victory.

 The Cobras were led by a trio of former Burke County standouts. Savannah Coble (East Burke High School) led the charge with 23 points. Amaiya Williams (Freedom High School) had a strong performance with 19 points. Malarie Tallent (Patton High School) followed with 15 points.

 Guilford Tech was led by NJCAA All-American selection J’Nai Millner, who led all scorers with 28 points.

 The Lady Cobras will be back in action at home on Saturday for their conference opener versus Denmark Tech. Tip-off is at 5pm and admission is free.
