HICKORY, NC (August 8, 2017)…Humane Society of Catawba County today announced that it will join with WCNC NBC Charlotte to host NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations’ Clear the Shelters third annual nationwide pet adoption drive on Saturday, August 19. On this day, HSCC will offer low cost pet adoption fees as part of the nationwide Clear the Shelters initiative that seeks to help families find and adopt homeless pets. Since 2015, Clear the Shelters has resulted in more than 70,000 pet adoptions nationwide.
“We are excited about the opportunity to participate in Clear the Shelters this year and hope many of our cats and dogs are able to find loving families that day,” said Jane Bowers, executive director at HSCC.
WHAT: Humane Society of Catawba County to participate as an official Clear the Shelters partner alongside WCNC NBC Charlotte. HSCC will offer half-price pet adoption fees to help families find and adopt a new pet.
WHEN: Saturday, August 19 from 11 AM to 6 PM.

ADOPTION: A real-time pet “Adoption Tracker” – posted on www.ClearTheShelters.com – will record the total number of pets that are adopted across all participating markets.
