HICKORY, NC (March 13, 2018)…A new study released by SmartAsset ranked the ten best places to retire in North Carolina. Hickory ranked number seven in the state, climbing two positions from ninth place in 2017.
The study considered income and sales taxes, the number of doctors’ offices, the percentage of seniors, and opportunities for recreation and social activities.
“Hickory continues to attract retirees thanks to its beautiful natural setting, pleasant climate, exceptional medical care, abundant amenities, and affordable cost of living,” said City Manager Warren Wood. “For those of us fortunate enough to call Hickory home, it is easy to see why so many choose to settle here to enjoy all the area has to offer.”
