Hickory Firefighters Promoted
HICKORY, NC (January 4, 2017)…A promotional ceremony for Hickory firefighters was held on December 27.
Reggie Cannon has been promoted to Captain with the Hickory Fire Department. Since being hired in May 2003, Cannon has completed many certifications through the North Carolina Fire and Rescue Commission including training as a level II firefighter, Fire and Life Safety Educator levels I and II, Rapid Intervention Training (RIT) and North Carolina Technical Rescuer certification in Vehicle Machine Rescue.
Cannon has certifications as an EMT, Hazardous Materials Operations level and most recently as a Level I and II Fire Service Instructor. He has completed training in the following specialized areas: Search and Recovery, Diver, and Emergency Vehicle Driver. Cannon has completed training in the incident command and training in the Swedish Flashover Simulator. In 2012, he completed Fire Officer level I and II. He and his wife, Jennie have a son named Luke.
Daniel Green has been promoted to Fire Apparatus Operator with the Hickory Fire Department. Prior to employment with the Hickory Fire Department, Green served as a firefighter with Lenoir Fire Department and now serves as a volunteer with Grace Chapel Fire Department where he is the training officer and was just awarded 2016 Firefighter of the Year.
Green is certified as a level II firefighter, Fire & Life Safety Educator level I, Driver Operator (Pumps and aerials), Hazardous Materials Operations and the Advanced Firefighter certificate thorough the North Carolina Fire & Rescue Commission. He is also certified as an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) through the North Carolina Office of the Emergency Services. In 2011, Green completed training and was certified as a Fire Service Instructor to teach the Firefighter Level 1 and 2 certifications. Green also completed the Fire Officer I certification in 2011 and most recently he has completed the Fire Officer II program. In 2007, Green graduated from the NC Breathing Equipment School and has completed training in the National Incident Management System. As well as required training, Green also graduated with an Associate Degree in Emergency Preparedness Technology through Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute. He is married to Caitlin and they are expecting their first child in March.
