Health Director Named for Caldwell County Health Department

LENOIR, NC (August 18, 2017)…Joshua Swift of New Hanover, North Carolina will become Public Health Director of the Caldwell County Health Department, starting September 5th.

Mr. Swift comes to Caldwell County with over nine years of experience working in Public Health leadership. He was serving as Deputy Public Health Director in New Hanover when he accepted the position in Caldwell County.

“After a diligent search and numerous qualified applicants, the Board of Health reached a unanimous decision in appointing Joshua Swift as our new Health Director,” stated Randy Church, Chair of The Caldwell County Board of Health.  “Mr. Swift brings years of experience and leadership to the Health Department in order to continue the great service that our Health Department provides the residents of Caldwell County every day.”

I’m excited to be leading the health department and my goal is to help improve the health of Caldwell County residents by working together with other agencies and organizations in the county”, said Joshua Swift, MPH.

In addition to his current position, since 2011, as Deputy Health Director in New Hanover County, Mr. Swift served as Stokes County’s Health Director from 2008-2011. Currently, he is the president of North Carolina Public Health Association (NCPHA) and he participated in National Association of County and City Health Officials – Survive and Thrive program for new health directors.

Mr. Swift earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion from Appalachian State University and a Master in Public Health from the University of South Carolina.
