The defendant also admitted his habitual felon status, which enhanced the active sentence he was given by the Honorable Gregory R. Hayes, Superior Court Judge from Catawba County. Killian will serve the prison term in custody of the North Carolina Division of Adult Corrections.
Killian’s sentence was enhanced by prior felony convictions for obtaining property by false pretense (May 2014), possession of stolen goods (February 2012) and breaking/entering a motor vehicle (September 2005), all in Burke County.
In December 2016, narcotics officers with the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office arranged a purchase of methamphetamine from the defendant. When Killian arrived at the established meeting place, he was placed under arrest. A search of the vehicle he was driving turned up a coat with a clear plastic baggie containing methamphetamine and a 9-millimeter handgun in the pockets.
J.T. Reynolds was the lead investigator for the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office, and Assistant District Attorney Nancy Lee prosecuted the case for the State.
