GRANITE FALLS, NC (March 26, 2018)…The Granite Falls History Committee presented a People’s Choice Award for Quilts to Betsy Lail during a reception held Sunday, March 25, 2018 at the Granite Falls History and Transportation Museum (107 Falls Avenue, Granite Falls). Her quilt entitled “Forest Galorest” featured a variety of colorful animals and plants. It was selected from among 34 entries by visitors to the museum during March. Barbara Ross, who coordinated the quilt show, made the presentation.
The museum is housed in the former home of Andrew Baird, an early settler who once owned land now known as Granite Falls, Grace Chapel, and Rhodhiss. Beginning Saturday, April 7th, the museum will feature an expanded sports exhibit, which includes a tribute to persons from Granite Falls who have been inducted into the Caldwell County Sports Hall of Fame. The Granite Falls History and Transportation Museum is open to the public from 2 until 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday except holiday weekends. Private tours may be arranged at other times by calling the Town Office at (828) 396-3131.
