Foothills Community Workshop has a new home

GRANITE FALLS, NC (November 6, 2017)…After losing everything in the Old Shuford Mills fire this past summer, the Foothills Community Workshop took possession of their new space at 141 North Main Street in Granite Falls.  They are very excited to get back to what they do!  The building is 11,000 sq. ft. and has tremendous potential.

Everyone is invited to attend one of their weekly meetings.  Weekly meetings are resuming to their normal schedule:  Tuesdays at 7PM and Saturdays at 3PM.

In the coming weeks, the FCW will be working to set up their new space.

Additionally, an open house is scheduled for Friday Dec. 15 from 5-9 PM and Saturday, Dec. 16 from 10AM-6PM. There will also be an official Ribbon Cutting on Friday, Dec. 15 at 4PM.

Foothills Community Workshop wants to say thank you for the outpouring of support they have received over the last few months.  They couldn’t have recovered from July’s tragedy without the contributions of the maker / hackerspace community, our members, friends and families.

The crew is working to make the space usable as soon as possible.  Spread the word — FCW is back!!

About FCW…Foothills Community Workshop is a 501(c)3 hackerspace in Granite falls.   FCW currently has over 30 members ranging in age from high school to nearly 80.  The backgrounds are an eclectic mix including former and current: teachers; programmers; engineers; technicians; furniture workers; truckers; musicians; business people and others.  The common desire is to learn from others, teach skills, and make projects.  Visit the FCW website for much more information…
