Fire damages Falls Avenue warehouse

GRANITE FALLS, NC (July 22, 2017)…At approximately 7:15 p.m. on Friday, July 21, 2017 the Granite Falls Fire Department (GFFD) responded to a warehouse fire at One Putt, Inc., located at 12 Falls Avenue, Granite Falls, North Carolina.

One of the larger buildings on the former Shuford Mills property was engulfed in flames and the GFFD requested mutual aid from multiple agencies.

Fire departments from Caldwell, Catawba, Burke and Alexander Counties responded as well as the Caldwell County Emergency Management personnel and the American Red Cross.

There were no occupants in the building at the time of the fire.

One responder was transported to a local hospital due to heat exhaustion and later released.

The cause of the fire remains unknown. The Caldwell County Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating the cause and origin of the fire.

The fire was contained as of 1:00 a.m. on July 22, 2017.  GFFD personnel will remain on the scene throughout the night to extinguish any hotspots or flare ups.
